Conservation Clear® Acrylite®

Conservation Grade UV Protection

Conservation Clear® Acrylite® acrylic sheet with OP-3 UV Filtering Technology protects works of art from the harmful effects of indoor and outdoor UV light rays. Over time, the ultraviolet rays in everyday indoor and outdoor light take a toll on artwork. Paper can become faded, discolored and brittle, causing irreversible damage that ruins the works of art. Conservation Clear Acrylite with 98% UV protection helps protect art from fading by blocking harmful indoor and outdoor light rays, preserving art for years longer than regular acrylic.

Premium Clear Acrylite®

Premium Clear Acrylite® acrylic sheet is a general-purpose glazing for indoor framing.

Reflection Control® Acrylite®

Highly reflective surfaces can act like a mirror, causing glare and distracting viewers from the artwork you want to display.  Reflection Control® Acrylite® acrylic sheet is designed to minimize reflection and show the art from almost any angle.

Conservation Reflection Control® ACRYLITE®

Conservation Grade UV Protection

Conservation Reflection Control® ACRYLITE® acrylic sheet with OP-3 UV filtering technology protects artwork from the harmful effects of light and distortion of glare. Over time, the ultraviolet rays in everyday indoor and outdoor light take a toll on artwork. Paper can become faded, discolored, and brittle, causing irreversible damage that ruins the artwork. Conservation Reflection Control Acrylite with 98% UV protection helps protect art from fading by blocking harmful indoor and outdoor light rays, preserving art for years longer than regular acrylic. The reflection control matte finish gives you glare-free viewing, allowing a clear view of the framed artwork without distortion.

Optium Acrylic® (anti-reflective)

Optium Acrylic® is a lightweight, anti-reflective, anti-static, clear-coated acrylic that provides greater security than traditional glazing.

Optium Acrylic® products are manufactured utilizing a clear, hard-coated abrasion-resistant acrylic sheet.  A magnetron sputtered thin film multi-layered anti-reflection coating is applied to both sides of the acrylic sheet using a patented Tru Vue® Optium® technology.  The coating is engineered for demanding optical requirements, durability, and strength.

Optium Museum Acrylic® (anti-reflective)

Conservation Grade UV Protection

Optium Museum Acrylic® Meets Your Rigorous Standards Durable and strong, Optium is produced using a patented Tru Vue technology. A magnetron-sputtered anti-reflective, anti-static coating is bonded to an abrasion resistant, UV filtering acrylic sheet at an atomic level. This ensures long-lasting protection that doesn’t oxidize and degrade over time.

Premium Clear

Premium Clear glass is the highest quality regular framing glass available.

Reflection Control®

Reflection Control® glass enhances the beauty of artwork with etched matte-like finish that scatters light to minimize unwanted glare.

AR Reflection-Free®

AR Reflection-Free® glass offers the same amazing clarity as Museum Glass® ,but does not provide Conservation Grade UV Protection. It allows over 97% light transmission and reduces reflections to less than 1%.  The result, enhanced colors, brightness and reflection-free viewing for optimal clarity.

Conservation Clear®

Conservation Grade UV Protection

Conservation Clear® picture framing glass offers the highest level of UV protection available in the industry.  Over time exposure to indoor and outdoor UV light rays can contribute to fading and deterioration of art, photographs and other important personal keepsakes. Conservation Clear glass effectively blocks up to 99% of UV light rays to protect against fading and help keep framed pieces brighter, longer.

Handling

  • Cotton gloves should be worn to minimize fingerprints and other particles.
  • ACRYLITE sheets are covered with a protective white poly film on each surface. This film prevents scratching during handling and cutting and should be left in place on the sheet as long as possible. To remove the film, start at one corner or side and roll the film on to a scrap cardboard core or on to itself. The film should never be exposed to excessive sunlight or outdoor conditions for extended periods of time.

Cleaning

  • Use an acrylic cleaner and a clean damp cleaning cloth. Apply only light pressure, rinse with clean water, or a cleaner designed specifically for acrylic, and dry by blotting with a clean, damp cloth or chamois.
  • Do not use dry or gritty cloths, they may cause surface scratches and create a static electric charge on the surface.
  • Do not use glass cleaning sprays, kitchen scouring compounds or solvents such as acetone, gasoline, or lacquer to clean acrylic.
  • Spray an ammonia-free cleaner onto the cloth and wipe the acrylic.
  • Conservation Clear ACRYLITE acrylic sheet with Scratch Resistance can be cleaned with a common household glass cleaner.

Cutting

  • Place ACRYLITE sheet on a clean, dust free work area.
  • Cover the work table with a soft, clean, lint free felt.
  • Use a Multi-Material Cutter “scribe & break” method to cut ACRYLITE sheet.

  • When light weight, shatter and abrassion resistant glazing is essential for protection

Handling

  • Cotton or nitrile rubber gloves should be worn to minimize finger-prints and other particles.
  • Optium Acrylic® products are covered with a protective film masking on each surface. This masking prevents scratching during handling and cutting and should be left in place on the sheet as long as possible

  • Do not use coarse or abrasive cleaning agents or dirty cloths.
  • Spray an ammonia-free cleaner onto the cloth and wipe the acrylic.
  • Never spray cleaner directly on the acrylic.
  • Do not use an acrylic cleaner (i.e., Brillianize) on this product.
  • Do not buff scratches in this product as it may damage the anti-reflective coating.
  • Abrasion-resistant properties prevent mild scratching, but not deep scratches. Cuts by hard objects cannot be repaired.

Cutting

3.0mm or 4.5mm Optium Museum Acrylic® and 3mm Optium Acrylic®

  • Place Optium on a clean, dust-free work area.
  • Cover the work table with a soft, clean, lint-free felt.
  • Use a Multi-Material cutter “scribe and break” method.

6.0mm Optium Museum Acrylic

  • Fabricate using a power saw with a saw blade specifically designed to cut acrylic. Contact us for saw blade recommendations.
  • Optium Acrylic Glazing should NOT be cut with a laser. The extreme heat can cause crazing, which may lead to delamination of the coating.

Storing Optium

  • Avoid storing in areas where condensation might occur.
  • Use 2-ply rag board or pH neutral paper for interleaf during short-term storage.
  • Stack sheets horizontally with the larger sheets at the bottom, or lean acrylic sheets at an angle of approximately 10 degrees to prevent bowing.
  • Allow 24 hours for climatizing before exhibiting. Condensation will leave water spots on the anti-reflective coating.
  • The masking should never be exposed to excessive sunlight or outdoor conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Although Optium does not require a climate controlled environment for long-term storage, we recommend removing any protective film masking and use pH neutral paper to separate the parts.
  • Optium is not effected by standard museum environments or normal warehouse temperatures, and can withstand extreme temperatures of minus 30 degrees F (-34 degrees C) to 160 degrees F (71 degrees C).
  • If storing framed pieces, please note that Optium expands and contracts, so allow for size variation in frame systems.
  • Avoid shipping framed pieces horizontally as expansion/contraction of the sheet may cause vibration or rubbing against the surface of the artwork.
