Custom framers will find an improved handling experience due to changes Tru Vue has made to its anti-reflective products including Museum Glass®, UltraVue® and AR Reflection-Free®. These products are now easier to clean and more durable, two important features that have emerged through customer feedback.
Tru Vue achieved these enhancements by engineering its anti-reflective coating to provide a hydrophobic surface, which aids in the removal of oils, such as fingerprints, and water. The treatment prevents liquids from being absorbed into the surface with an increased water contact angle. This results in liquid sitting on top of the surface and beading up, making it easier to wipe clean.
The hydrophobic surface is smoother and has less friction when wiped. This makes it more durable by allowing more abrasive particles that come in contact with the glass to gently slide across the surface. The result is less destruction to the coating. UV protection and optical specifications remain the same with the enhanced products, and custom framers do not need to change care and handling methods.
“Our customers have been vocal about the difficulties they’ve had in removing fingerprints, experiencing streaking with glass cleaner and scratching with our anti-reflective products,” said Jen Gramm, Director of Marketing at Tru Vue. “We assigned a team of experts to address these problems, and they have worked very hard to develop a coating solution that passes our rigorous performance criteria for UV protection and clarity, meets our customers’ expectations for handling and with minimal impact to our current cost structure.”
Custom framing professionals who are interested in learning more about the enhancements are invited to order a sample kit at www.truvue2023prd.wpengine.com. These kits will be available beginning February 3, 2015. Because the enhanced products have already been shipped to distributors, some customers may have already begun receiving them.
