Derek Harris joins Tru Vue® as Vice President of Research and Development

By Maureen O'Connor, Tru Vue Marketing Manager

Research and development are often behind-the-scenes aspects of business, but it is a critical part of what we do to bring our customers and their customers the best glazing in the industry.

Joining our team of top-notch scientists is Derek Harris, the new vice president of research and development at Tru Vue®. An experienced research and development executive with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, Derek brings a significant depth of knowledge in optical coatings as well as strategic oversight of the product development process. In his role, he will be involved in existing product improvements and the development of potential new products for the custom framing market, as well as for other applications produced by the company’s engineered optics division.

Derek’s passion for discovery, innovation, and implementation combined with his leadership and executive experience are what brought him to Tru Vue for this important role. In his 25 years working in a variety of industries, he has developed ten patents with a diverse group of colleagues.

Derek has learned a great deal about the emphasis on product development and quality at Tru Vue, and he is very impressed with what he has experienced so far. “I’m impressed with the company’s focus on internal processes and quality,” said Derek about his first impressions of working at Tru Vue. “The team here includes a large percentage of Ph.D.’s and others who bring deep knowledge, especially of technology, to research and development.”

Among the many projects, Derek looks forward to working at Tru Vue and adding to the culture of innovation. The research and development team is excited to have such an expert on board.
