Sustainability at Tru Vue

Through responsible and conscientious procurement, consumption, and production, we’re working to make a positive impact on the planet, for today and for generations to come.

Sustainability is nothing new for Tru Vue. Rather, it is woven into our Core Values, the principles that reflect who we are as an organization. From workplace environment to carbon reduction, we aim to be a good corporate citizen in our interactions with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, vendors, shareholders, our communities, and the environment.

Our People

Our commitment to sustainability begins with our people.

  • We aim to recruit, develop, and retain an inclusive and diverse work environment, to ensure that we have the best possible talent and capabilities in place to consistently safeguard sustainability while still delivering for our customers.

Our Operations

We are taking action to reduce our carbon footprint.

  • Through our company-wide Lean Enterprise initiative we continually focus on eliminating waste and minimizing resource consumption.  For example, Tru Vue McCook recently installed two water bottle refilling stations and saved nearly 10,000 disposable bottles to date.

  • We participate in a program to reduce our electrical consumption during peak days/hours.
  • We continue to lower the energy intensity of our manufacturing operations through energy efficient motors and innovative, optimized manufacturing processes.
  • Our manufacturing facilities have switched to energy efficient LED lighting, which has improved lighting levels while significantly reducing energy consumption. For example, in the first year, Tru Vue McCook reduced consumption by 811,160 kWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 76 U.S. residential homes[1].

  • We recycle and reuse a variety of materials, including acrylic and glass scrap, product packaging, crating materials, cardboard, paper, and plastic waste, diverting hundreds of tons of materials from the waste stream each year. For example, Tru Vue McCook recycles an average of 804 tons of glass, 41 tons of paper and corrugated, and 6.6 tons of plastic and shrink wrap a year. Recycling 804 tons of glass alone saves 43,416 cubic feet of landfill space[2], the equivalent of 4.8 square city blocks.

Our Products

We manufacture and ship our products, which protect cultural heritage and fine works or art around the world for future generations, with sustainability front of mind.

  • Our products are designed for applications that require a long service-life, such as custom picture frames, display cases, and signage.

  • Our hard coated acrylics are durable, enabling re-use and longer life spans in applications.
  • Acrylic and glass are recyclable at qualified recycling centers worldwide.
  • We continue to make our packaging more sustainable, including reducing the amount of packaging, using packaging materials that can easily be recycled, and sourcing packaging materials made from recycled content.
  • While paper based literature is available upon request, all our product information and marketing are provided digitally.

Our Communities

We strive to make a difference in the communities where we operate.

  • Tru Vue has a long legacy of giving back to the communities where we do business through volunteerism, donations, educational resources, and financial support.

  • We also work to strengthen the communities where we operate by investing in our business and creating good jobs.
