The Tru Frameable Moment™
The loss of a civic landmark is always tragic, but rather than dwell on the fire that engulfed the community’s iconic skating rink, Entry #4 focuses on the professionalism and heroics of the firefighters who responded to the alarm. It honors the volunteer firefighters, which were part of firefighting teams from several surrounding towns, all working in unison toward a common goal.
The Design
Materials throughout the project were chosen to convey a sense of strength and unity. The outer frame is wrapped in material from an actual firefighter’s jacket, the Larson Juhl Anvil accent frame and diamond plate mat convey an image of distressed metal and aged steel, and it all surrounds a collage of photos — float-mounted at different depths on Optium Museum Acrylic® that depict firefighters battling the fire at the skating rink.
