The Tru Frameable Moment™
Bringing back an Olympic Medal isn’t just a big deal to the athlete who wins it, but also to the hometown, he or she hails. So when light-flyweight boxer Nico Hernandez returned from Rio with an Olympic Bronze, the town turned out to greet him with a parade, an event at the local university and a ton of media attention.
The Design
Entry #7 celebrates the victory and commemorates the homecoming. Featuring a photo of Nico holding up his medal, newspaper articles and a detailed replica of the medal itself, the design is purposefully simple with embellishments that are small yet significant. Blue and red were chosen to represent both Olympic colors and those of the Wichita flag. Bronze — in the foil matting and framing —represents Nico’s Olympic accomplishment. Larger framing elements are from the Larson Juhl Spoleto collection; the smaller elements are framed with fillet cut in reverse, and the entire piece is glazed with Museum Glass®.
