Watch our short highlights film.  On 11th June 2015 the UK’s leading museum and gallery conservators came together in London for an evening of discussion and workshops hosted by industry-leaders Tru Vue and John Jones. The event took place at John Jones’ headquarters. The Arts Building, London, and included tours of their Fine Art Conservation Studio.

Keynote speakers:

Hugh Phibbs, Consultant and former Preparator at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC
Phibbs is renowned in the field of paper and organic material preservation. For the first time in the UK, Phibbs will deliver a hands-on workshop demonstrating how to create climate controlled framing. Phibbs has previously given this hugely popular workshop at institutions including The Louvre, MoMa, the Harvard Libraries and the Smithsonian Museums of Art.

Jones took on his family business in 2002. The company is known as Europe’s leading provider of museum-quality framing and conservation to galleries and museums including Victoria Miro, Hamiltons and V&A, and many private and corporate collections. Jones will discuss what makes a quality frame and what conservators should look for when contracting for framing services. Matthew will be joined on the panel by Craig Horsfall, Head of Conservation at John Jones.

Stuart Welch, Founder and Development Director at Conservation by Design, UK
Welch is regarded as one of the UK’s most innovative creators of conservational displays for the museum and heritage industry. Welch will be presenting the Enigma Frame¨ concept, a new large-scale conservation technology developed for the preservation of papyrus in Cairo.

The panel was chaired by Dr. Jennifer Booth, Tru Vue Museum and Conservation Liaison, and followed by a Q&A session.
