The Challenge
- To provide the best viewing experience possible while protecting works in glass wall niches.
- Product specifications must be found acceptable for use in exhibitions by the Environmental Health and Safety Department, as well as the Department of Exhibitions and Registration.
The Solution
UltraVue® Laminated Glass offers an optimal viewing experience:
Anti-reflective
Cuts light reflections down to 1% compared to 8% with standard glass, allowing viewers to see the works without distracting reflections.
99% UV blocking
Protects the works from the most damaging light wavelengths, helping prevent fading and degradation.
Safety & Security
If glass breaks, shards remain in place to safeguard against injury and damage until the glass is replaced. This product is ideal for valuable works, high traffic areas, and public event spaces.
The Work
Revoliutsiia! Demonstratsiia! Soviet Art Put to the Test was an exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago that ran from October 29, 2017 to January 15, 2018. Ten displays containing nearly 550 works came together in the largest exhibition of Soviet art to take place in the United States in 25 years. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the trajectory of early Soviet art in all its forms, and consider what it tells us about socially minded art today. These wall niches were glazed with UltraVue® Laminated Glass.
